Vision & Mission
Our Vision: Global Intercultural Understanding
What brought the ICDC team together is our shared vision of empowering and enabling global intercultural understanding. Quoting a Palestinian school director 'by teaching our pupils Israeli language and culture we aim to raise awareness and understanding and reduce stereotyping'. Intercultural understanding is a life long learning process. Therefore we feel the strong necessity to offer a platform for practicing including know-how transfer, coaching, training and international networking both for future and present interculturalists. Hosting the ICDC in Switzerland – a country with four official languages and cultures - offers the perfect location.
Our Mission: Promoting Intercultural Competencies
The platform offered is called Intercultural Competence Development Conference founded in 2007. The conference topic 'At Home Bread Smells far Better' shall inspire participants to develop their intercultural competencies, benefit from cultural differences and expand cultural networking.
The ICDC team invites you as intercultural practitioner, intercultural theorist, curious interculturalist, experienced, future or present expatriates, intercultural trainer, coach or consultant to join, share, experience, learn and develop your intercultural competences. Experiencing, learning and understanding differences enable us all to develop a profound understanding of intercultural challenges. Education enables mutual understanding and tolerance. Last but not least intercultural competences empower peace, starting in families up to global political decision.
